Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania
1/40, f/13, ISO100, 120mm
Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L
Shot with Canon 1D mark III

I shot this 7 years ago while doing some HIV work in Tanzania - our medical facility closed for a long weekend, and I took advantage of the free time to go on a brief safari. For some reason I never bothered to upload photos from that trip to Deviantart. Perhaps I'll get around to uploading more in the future.

Here's what wikipedia has to say about Ngorongoro:

The Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA) is a conservation area and a UNESCO World Heritage Site located 180 km (110 mi) west of Arusha in the Crater Highlands area of Tanzania. The area is named after Ngorongoro Crater, a large volcanic caldera within the area. The conservation area is administered by the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority, an arm of the Tanzanian government, and its boundaries follow the boundary of the Ngorongoro Division of the Arusha Region.

Amazing photo! At first sight, I thought the zebras have been just copied and pasted, but thanks to the fact that their stripe structure is as unique as human fingerprints, I could easily verify their authenticity :D And it was very fascinating to identify those subtle differences and realise once more how amazing nature is :)

Absolutely stunning! Love the warm orange and golds of the wide open landscape with the mountains in the background. The sunbeams coming down from the clouds are amazing and love the herd of zebras just strolling across the open savanna. Definitely a breathtaking moment in time you captured here - beautiful!

Well hey now!! I've been there, in fact, I know this exact skyline! I certainly didn't take a photo as pretty as this, but I tried!  That little hill on the left of the frame, I know it!  This is so cool to see this view agin.  Great shot!

My work was at a medical clinic in a small area called Shirimatunda. I was staying in the Moshi municipality. I can't recall all of the places my safari group covered, but I believe it included the serengeti, ngorongoro, lake manyara, olduvai gorge (fantastic archaeological anthropology), and a couple cultural stops along the way.
